Losing Weight with the Help of Yoga and Proper Diet

It takes a lot of self-discipline to perform yoga techniques and at the same time follow a diet that supports your yoga practice. When starting a new diet plan, your first step should be to slowly replace junk food with healthy food.

There are certain foods that should be included in a yoga diet. You should always opt for pure foods as they are best-suited for this type of diet. These kinds of diet plans involve eating a lot of vegetables. Some good foods to include in this diet consist of legumes, nuts, seed, fruits and whole grains.

Besides eating the right foods, there are certain foods that you need to avoid while you are on a yoga diet plan. People who are on this diet are not recommended to eat meat. Tamasic foods like onions and garlic and Rahasic foods like hot peppers, coffee, caffeinated tea and salt should also be avoided. You should stay away from processed or refined foods. It is also important to avoid alcohol, cigarettes and illegal drugs. Choosing the right food is not enough; they way you cook your meals is equally important.

Just like in case of any other diet, it is important to eat in moderation. Eating in moderation doesn’t only refer to the amount of food that you eat, it is also concerned with the spices and flavorings present in your food. Foods that are heavily spicy, have excessive flavorings or contain too much grease are not at all good for a yoga diet plan.
